On the 2nd floor, an/other TOKYO’s reception. On the back wall sits an octagonal grid, a Cast, introducing the day. This grid, which looks like a frame with photos and graphics, is actually a projection that is showing various visuals in the size of the grid. It is a digital signage whose projection changes depending on the time zone and the season, such as Morning and Night. It is a new form of communication slightly different from the past that incorporates Sony’s design concept, HIDDEN SENSES.
HIDDEN SENSES is a design concept that was announced by Sony Creative Center in 2018. It is a technology that assimilates into living spaces to make proposals for technologies close to people. For example, it causes feedback such as sound, light and tactile sensations in response to casual daily movements, like touching or walking. Even without knowing, people are provided with an experience that appeals to sensitivities inherent in human beings.
This internationally renowned concept had won "Best Playfulness 2018" at the world's largest design fair "Milan Salone/Milan Design Week 2018" and "Best Use of Digital Technology" at the international award for interior and space design "FRAME AWARDS 2019”.
The signage, installed at the an/other TOKYO reception, functions as an information board while blending into an elegant space of greige. The remote control is a palm sized, dice-like object. By changing the direction of this dice, an interactive specification is adopted in which information in the building, scenery and so on are displayed according to the needs of the guests. It is not merely a place for check in procedure; it plays a part in directing the entrance from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
Content planning and graphic production were done by the technical team of ziginc., who are also in charge of creative direction for an/other TOKYO, under the supervision of Sony Creative Center.
